Our Story
Esther's journey into the world of hair care and beauty began at a young age, filled with excitement and curiosity. She fondly remembers the anticipation of her first relaxer at 14, a moment that symbolized beauty and trendiness in her youthful eyes.
As the years passed, Esther's passion for hair care only grew stronger. She found joy in styling hair for family, friends, and neighbors, honing her skills with each opportunity that came her way. At 17, Esther made the decision to enroll in cosmetology school, a pivotal step that not only taught her the art of hair styling but also delved into the science behind hair structure and care.
Throughout her journey in cosmetology school, Esther underwent a transformative experience. Despite having relaxed hair at the time, she developed a profound appreciation for natural textured hair. This newfound perspective ignited a desire within Esther to embrace her roots and wear her hair in its natural state, a journey of self-discovery and authenticity that she eagerly shares with others.
As a mother to three wonderful daughters, Esther always took pride in ensuring they looked their best. From washing their hair every two weeks to styling it in creative ways that accentuated their beautiful curly, kinky texture, it was a labor of love that she happily undertook. However, one day, as she was styling her youngest daughter's hair, the little one expressed her frustration, questioning why she had to endure the process. Her words struck a chord with Esther, making her realize that she hadn't provided her daughters with a role model who embraced natural hair unapologetically.
Our Why
Feeling a sense of responsibility as their mother, Esther knew she had to be that role model for them. The decision to transition from relaxed to natural hair had been lingering in her mind, but it wasn't until July 2020, following the passing of her beloved mother, that she finally took the leap. While preparing for her mother's funeral, Esther stumbled upon old photos of her mother proudly flaunting her curls with confidence and elegance. Inspired by her, Esther embarked on her natural hair journey, officially transitioning and eventually big chopping in March of 2022.
With her background as a Pharmacist and cosmetologist, Esther delved into researching the chemistry and structure of black women's hair, seeking out natural ingredients scientifically proven to promote hair growth and scalp health. Drawing from her expertise and experience, she began formulating products with organic, plant-based ingredients right in her kitchen. And thus, All Things Haircare was born.
Throughout this journey, Esther learned invaluable lessons about love, acceptance, and self-care. Understanding that growing healthy, beautiful hair is a holistic process, she has come to embrace her natural texture, nourishing and protecting it with care. Esther's hair is not just a part of her; it's a reflection of her identity, and by nurturing it, she's nurturing herself.
